Game developers are progressing with plans to officially recognize “Bullet Heaven” as a distinct game genre, a classification that emerged from the success of Vampire Survivors.
Over the past few years, numerous survivor-like reverse bullet hell games have rapidly gained popularity. Titles such as Vampire Survivors, Brotato, Yet Another Zombie Survivors, Megabonk, Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, The Spell Brigade, Achilles: Survivor, and Soulstone Survivors exemplify this trend.
To establish a definitive name for this burgeoning genre, Awesome Games Studio conducted a recent poll. With 8,023 responses, the outcome was conclusive: Bullet Heaven was chosen as the official designation.
The next step involves securing Valve/Steam’s endorsement to create an official category on the platform, similar to other established genres. Players can contribute to this effort by adding the “Bullet Heaven” Steam tag to relevant games, demonstrating the community’s demand for this new classification.
