From its inception, the team at 91Act aimed to distinguish itself in the global action game development scene. The studio’s name, “91Act,” is a play on the Chinese phrase “Jiu Yao ACT,” signifying a dedication to creating action games and expressing creativity within the 2D action genre.
The studio established itself in Chengdu, an ancient city known for its pandas, Szechuan cuisine, mahjong, and Daoist culture. This serene environment was chosen to foster focused and imaginative development for producing high-quality action games, leading to the creation of BlazBlue.

The studio’s journey has become well-known among its fanbase. Over a decade ago, founder Michael Jiang departed Tencent to establish 91Act. With only a single demo, the team secured a license from Arc System Works to develop official BlazBlue mobile games. After years of honing their skills in mobile development, the studio decided to fulfill a long-standing community request and pursue its core mission: to create a premier single-player action game.
This commitment demanded significant sacrifices. Nearing its 10th anniversary, the studio faced potential bankruptcy. However, community support provided a turning point. The game, a product of immense dedication, achieved considerable success, enabling the team to recover and thrive. Arc System Works acknowledged this dedication by offering expanded access to the BlazBlue universe, including an entirely new storyline crafted by the series’ original scenario author. This collaboration led to BlazBlue Entropy Effect X, an action-roguelite title featuring 14 beloved characters from the BlazBlue universe alongside a fresh, original narrative.

BlazBlue Entropy Effect X masterfully blends various genres, maintaining a distinct BlazBlue feel. It incorporates roguelite elements like RNG and build-crafting, alongside stylish, responsive action gameplay and fundamental combo-driven fighting mechanics. Players will “dive” into the enigmatic Sea of Possibility, undertaking “salvage operations” to gather “Shards of Possibility” linked to narratives within the BlazBlue universe.
Each dive represents a new run. Clearing a combat room rewards players with Potentials, which unlock new moves and abilities. Entering another room grants Strategies, providing attribute-boosting effects to enhance attacks. Players might also encounter the Black Market Vendor, offering the chance to trade existing perks for powerful, high-risk bonuses.

The adventure progresses and evolves with each room cleared and build refined. Ultimately, players will face a boss, with their accumulated skills and honed techniques determining the outcome.
Upon its launch on February 12, 2026, BlazBlue Entropy Effect X will offer players access to the complete roster of 14 BlazBlue characters. Additionally, two guest characters from acclaimed indie titles—Icey from Icey and The Beheaded from Dead Cells—will be available as free DLC characters at launch.

The appearance of a mysterious girl with a large sword and a headless prisoner wielding numerous weapons is fitting for the Sea of Possibility, where unusual visitors are a common occurrence.
Prepare to embark on this adventure starting February 12, 2026, as BlazBlue Entropy Effect X releases on Xbox Series X|S.
