Team Fortress 2 has received a new update, which will automatically apply upon restarting the game. This update introduces the annual Smissmas event for 2025, alongside a variety of general improvements and bug fixes.
Happy Smissmas 2025!
- Players logging into TF2 during the Smissmas event will receive a Stuffed Stocking, filled with gifts for mercenaries.
- Six new community-created maps are now available: Nutcracker, Sidewinder, Abbey, Winter Ridge, Matterhorn, and Gavle.
- The Winter 2025 Cosmetic Case has been added.
- This case features 23 new community-contributed cosmetic items.
- A Festivizer may be obtained as a bonus drop when opening the case.
- Three new community-contributed taunts are now available in the Mann Co. Store:
- Taunt: The Critical Fail
- Taunt: Dead Mann’s Drink
- Taunt: Chairholder
- Twenty new community-created Unusual effects have been introduced:
- 11 new effects for Unusual hats
- 9 new effects for Unusual taunts
- Many additional weapons can now be Festivized, thanks to community contributions.
- New community-created Smissmas material has been added for the beach ball.
- During the event, all cosmetic and taunt cases (excluding crates) will grant Smissmas 2025 Unusual effects instead of their standard Unusual effects.
- The Mann Co. Store is holding a winter sale.
- The Smissmas event concludes on January 7th, 2026.
General Improvements and Fixes
- A ‘No Bullets’ style has been added for The Gift Bringer.
- The Accursed Apparition no longer hides the Scout’s headphones.
- The Sizzling Aroma and Toxic Aroma Unusual effects have been updated to resolve DirectX80 issues.
- The Backbiter’s Billycock backpack icon now correctly displays the RED team version.
- The El Gigante’s Gunbelt has been updated to fix LOD issues.
- The Seamann’s Stubble materials have been corrected.
- Several tournament medals have been updated or added.
- Updates for cp_cowerhouse include:
- Custom props received further optimizations.
- Playerclip ‘ladders’ were added to both trucks’ rear beds for more consistent climbing.
- Updates for ctf_doublecross_event include:
- An out-of-bounds bug was fixed.
- Minor visual glitches were resolved.
- Updates for cp_gravelpit_snowy include:
- A screenshake effect was added to the laser gun finale.
- Holiday events were adjusted to reduce edict count.
- Model panels now correctly encode pose parameter values.
- Halloween spell projectiles now adjust to flipped view models.
- Network player handedness preference is now visible to spectators.
- Ullapool Caber explosions now count as melee kills and respect damage/radius attributes.
- Disposable sentries no longer play a denial sound for useful wrench hits.
- The Armageddon Pyro taunt now properly cleans up all particle systems.
- The logo spinner no longer breaks after prolonged rotation.
- The Minigun now spins correctly outside of first-person view.
- A broken view model issue after switching from the Medi Gun while healing has been fixed.
- Server admins can now change powerup mode convars without enabling cheats.
- A bitwise or operator in CHealthAmmoKit has been replaced.
- The MoveableSubPanel no longer appears in the Sentry targetID panel when a player is dead.
- Tracer rounds from rifles are now affected by cl_flipviewmodels.
- Pyrovision no longer nullifies other voice pitch attributes.
- The Gas Passer can no longer be thrown through walls.
- IncrementAmmo no longer removes ammo if m_iClip1 is at maximum capacity.
- TF-specific search path tags have been added to TF mod gameinfo.
- View punch is now interpolated correctly.
- disguise_on_backstab now functions for stab targets that become ghosts.
- Chat input now uses chat_say_party instead of chat_party.
- Overlapping footstep sounds in third-person view have been fixed.
- Buffer overflows are now prevented when sscanf to char buffer.
- Players no longer get stuck in team unassigned when joining a server.
- Sentry guns now perform the rocket fire animation when Wrangler controlled.
- Impulse 101 is now allowed on The Ullapool Caber.
- The disguise kit no longer resets multiple times in high ping situations.
- Detonator jumps are now correctly considered self-damage jumps.
- The Detonator no longer makes a world-detonation sound when fired underwater.
- Knockback-attribute-specific animation overrides for CTFScattergun have been removed.
- net_graph now rounds interp to the nearest tick.
- A broken class select animation for The Soda Popper has been fixed.
- The $envmap parameter now uses the correct mask for The Solemn Vow.
- The barbell prop now uses phong.
- The Kill-a-Watt and Terror-Watt Unusual effects no longer stretch.
- The Disco Beat Down Unusual effect no longer grows in size when viewed from large distances.
- The MatchMakingTooltip label now uses the correct alignment setting.
- The training mode HIT! material alpha channel has been fixed.
- Bear Necessities now uses its normal map.
- Prediction errors with modified player gravity have been fixed.
- The render box of tf_flame_manager now uses correct vectors.
- The Energy Orb Unusual effect has been updated:
