Tingus Goose recently launched, and its full version continues to be as perplexing as its demo.
This clicker/idle game centers on cultivating an unusual human-goose hybrid tree. This tree produces small ‘Tingis’ babies, which generate currency to fuel its growth towards a celestial goose mate. Upon mating, the tree fully blossoms, releasing numerous new geese and advancing the player to the next stage.
The game’s premise is so profoundly strange that describing it accurately is challenging. While the objective of continuous growth is clear, the sheer oddity of the concept raises questions about the creators’ imaginative process.
Despite its comical absurdity, Tingus Goose proves strangely captivating. Players often find themselves compelled to progress, eager to witness the escalating bizarre scenarios in later levels and to appreciate the intricate animations.
As the goose tree expands, it develops various ‘Blossoms’ – unique goose-like growths, each with distinct appearances and advantages. The goal involves directing the falling babies to interact with these Blossoms, generating credits to further nourish the goose tree and facilitate its ascent towards its mate.
The game also features an upgrade system, which is equally outlandish. Beneath the surface, the tree’s roots receive calcium from an underground cow, a detail that is surprisingly one of the less peculiar elements of the game.
This subterranean area allows players to spend ‘bones’ on permanent upgrades for their current run, including the option to merge babies into grotesque entities that yield increased currency for goose growth.
Additionally, a peculiar doctor character offers various extras purchasable with gems collected during growth. These items, such as new Blossom types for the tree or DNA to enhance baby clicks, contribute to greater earnings and further expand the game’s oddities.
As an idle/clicker incremental game, the primary objective is continuous progression. Each chapter introduces a new goose tree and an increased growth requirement. However, accumulated upgrades carry over, maintaining engagement without significant difficulty. It functions as a casual game primarily demanding time.
This aspect highlights the game’s unique appeal.
Game Highlights
- Planting seeds: Insert a goose seed into a patient’s torso, add water, and observe a towering goose-tree emerge in MasterTingus’s distinctively twisted aesthetic.
- Idle gameplay meets Rube Goldberg mechanics: Babies descend branches, bouncing off ‘Blossoms’ to produce cash, while ‘Specimens’ create complex synergies for rapid growth.
- Extensive content: The game features 17 unsettling chapters and over 150 unlockables. Each chapter introduces new modifiers, lore, Blossoms, Specimens, and Relics, all with hand-illustrated art by MasterTingus.
- Unique experiences: Every playthrough provides a distinctively bizarre journey.
A known issue when running the game with Proton involves several brief animation videos failing to display on Linux/SteamOS. This results in a video test screen due to an unsupported codec. This is a common problem that typically requires GE-Proton for a workaround until a developer fix is implemented. Otherwise, the game generally performs well.
For players who enjoy distinctively strange, unique, and relaxing games, Tingus Goose comes highly recommended.
