Conatus Creative has announced that the PC game River City Ransom: Underground will be delisted from Steam on December 30, 2025. The game is currently available on Steam for $2.99, while it remains priced at $19.99 on Humble. It appears the delisting process has already begun, as images for the game are no longer present on Steam or Humble.
The primary reason for the game’s removal is the expiration of a licensing agreement. Arc System Works holds the rights to the River City/Downtown Nekketsu intellectual property. Conatus Creative initially secured an agreement with Arc System Works when developing the project and seeking crowdfunding on Kickstarter. Players who already own the game will retain access to River City Ransom: Underground even after it is delisted. However, new purchases will no longer be possible. Previously, the game was temporarily removed from Steam due to a false DMCA takedown.
This spin-off in the River City Ransom series begins with Merv offering a reward for the rescue of the kidnapped Angel, with the River City High gang, The Flock, being accused. The story follows gang members Bruno, Glen, Paul, and Provie as they embark on a mission to clear their names, locate Angel, and find their missing leader, Chris. Throughout this beat’em up adventure, players can recruit additional characters like Alex and Ryan, confront rival gangs, and uncover the truth behind the unfolding events.
