Baldur’s Gate 3 on Switch 2: Larian Says It’s Not Their Call
Larian Studios, the developer behind the acclaimed RPG Baldur’s Gate 3, has clarified that the decision for a potential Nintendo Switch 2 port rests with Wizards of the Coast, the owners of Baldur’s Gate 3 and Dungeons & Dragons.

Baldur’s Gate 3, which won Game of the Year, is currently available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Many players have expressed interest in a Nintendo Switch 2 version, which would offer portable gameplay with Joy-Con controllers.
During a recent Reddit AMA, Larian CEO Swen Vincke addressed questions regarding a Baldur’s Gate 3 port for Switch 2, including its technical feasibility given the game’s scope.
Vincke stated that the decision for any future port lies with Wizards of the Coast. Larian has since concluded its partnership with Wizards of the Coast for its upcoming game, Divinity.
He commented, “We would have loved to [bring Baldur’s Gate 3 to Nintendo Switch 2], but it wasn’t our decision to make.”
Despite Vincke’s remarks, which don’t entirely rule out Wizards of the Coast developing a Switch 2 port, reports suggest this is unlikely. According to insider NateTheHate, a Nintendo version was not in development as of late last year.
NateTheHate also noted, “While Larian would love to bring Baldur’s Gate 3 to the Switch 2… their relationship with Hasbro/Wizards of the Coast is not healthy.”
In the same Reddit AMA, Larian’s CEO also announced a halt to using generative AI for concept art in Divinity’s writing process, following backlash over previous confirmations of its use.
