Red Dead Redemption features 10 Treasure Hunter Ranks in the main game, along with an additional 5 treasures in the Undead Nightmare DLC. Locating all treasures is essential for achieving 100% Completion in the main game. The Undead Nightmare treasures contribute solely to the DLC’s completion and are not required for the main game’s 100%.
For the PS4/PS5 Remaster, all treasures, including those from Undead Nightmare, are necessary for the Platinum trophy, as the DLC trophies are integrated into the main trophy list. The PS3 version, however, kept Undead Nightmare treasures separate within its own DLC trophy list.
This guide has been updated for the Remaster across PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox Series S/X, Nintendo Switch 2, and Mobile platforms.
Main Game Treasure Locations
Rank 1: Getting First Treasure Map
The Treasure Hunter challenge begins with a unique random event. Players might encounter a man under attack by bandits near a wagon with two dead horses. Saving him will yield the first treasure map; if rescue is too late, the map can be retrieved from his body. Obtaining this map automatically initiates the challenge and grants Rank 1. Each subsequent treasure found provides a new map, guiding players to the next location and rank. Rank 1 itself does not involve finding a treasure; it completes upon acquiring the initial map.

Rank 2: Rhodes’ Gold

Behind Hanging Rock, locate two slightly smaller rocks. Proceed between them to find a distinct pile of rocks nestled in the corner, directly against Hanging Rock.

Rank 3: Jackson’s Gold

While the initial image depicts Del Lobo Rock from below, direct access there is not required. Travel southeast of Riley’s Charge, following the road to the camp situated at the summit. South of the cookfire, a gap marked ‘II’ on the map can be found.

Pass through this gap and continue along the path until a drop-off point leads to a lower path, culminating in the recognizable rock pile.

Rank 4: Calhoun’s Gold

This treasure is located in the basement of the ruined mansion west of Tumbleweed. Access the basement via the cellar doors on the south side, then find the rock pile against the west wall.

Rank 5: Tubman’s Gold

Locate the distinctive tree adorned with cow skulls north of Chuparosa in Rio del Toro. From this tree, proceed north towards the river, navigating around the wall situated on the opposite side of the road.

Rank 6: Brown’s Gold

Travel to Crooked Toes, found just south of Puerto Cuchillo. The rock pile rests directly atop the rock formation, specifically between the ‘toes’.

Rank 7: Douglass’ Gold

The map clearly illustrates Ojo del Diablo. The treasure is located at the very end of the path on the southwest side of the ‘eye’ formation.

Rank 8: Garrison’s Gold

The rock formation depicted is Roca de Madera. From this point, gaze southwest to spot a path running along the cliffside, just below the summit. Follow this path to its conclusion to discover the rock pile.

Rank 9: Pickett’s Gold

Proceed to the Broken Tree, situated just east of Beecher’s Hope. At its base, a broken wall contains the pile of stones, positioned between two sections of the wall.

Rank 10: Stonewall’s Gold

This treasure is located within the bear cave north of Manzanita Post, which is also encountered during the mission ‘Spare the Love, Spoil the Child’. The rock pile can be found inside the cave, against the far wall.

Undead Nightmare DLC Treasure Hunter Challenges
Collecting all 5 Undead Nightmare treasures is required for 100% Completion within the DLC and to earn the Zed’s Dead, Baby trophy/achievement. These treasures are not necessary for the main game’s 100% completion.
Undead Rank 1: Find the first map in a chest at a wilderness camp and find the treasure
The first Undead Nightmare treasure map is acquired during one of two ambient events: either from a man consuming human parts by a campfire or from a scientist with a gatling gun. Both encounters feature treasure chests in their camps; looting one will randomly provide the map. Once obtained, view the map from your Kit menu.

The initial landmark is the small train station and windmill adjacent to MacFarlane’s Ranch. From there, travel north from Pike’s Basin, crossing over the train tunnel. Continue on a lengthy uphill path into the snowy peaks, reaching the very end of a box canyon where the recognizable rock pile awaits in the open.

Undead Rank 2
Begin at Venter’s Place, then look east to locate the cliff and trees depicted on the treasure map.

Proceed east, veering slightly north, to discover the path leading up to the ledge where the treasure’s rock pile is situated.

Undead Rank 3
This treasure is found on the cliffs above The Scratching Post. Face north.

As indicated on the map, circle around to the rear of the rock formation to find the path leading to its summit.

Undead Rank 4
In Sepulcro, two similar statues exist, but only one features palm trees in the background. Follow the path illustrated in the second part of the map to locate a cluster of three trees with the treasure’s rocks nestled between them.

Follow the path shown in the second part, to find a group of three trees with the rocks between them.

Undead Rank 5
The map displays the distinct arch of Casa Madrugada. Follow the train tracks southeast.

When positioned approximately due north of Sepulcro, search for a path that ascends to a ledge at the base of the cliffs. The treasure-bearing rocks will be found directly on the edge of this ledge.
