The open-world adventure Star Wars Outlaws is now available on Game Pass Ultimate, inviting players to delve into the galaxy’s criminal underworld.
Since its initial release in 2024, the game has received numerous quality-of-life improvements. These include a significant overhaul of its stealth mechanics and the addition of two story expansions, which introduce new locations, activities, and familiar characters from the Star Wars universe. The version of Outlaws joining Game Pass offers an enhanced and expanded experience.
For those who have yet to embark on Kay Vess’s story, several compelling reasons exist to begin this interstellar bounty hunting journey.
Explore the Galaxy’s Dark Corners
Star Wars Outlaws delves into the galaxy’s criminal underworld, featuring a variety of stunning locations, some iconic and others entirely new. Players can traverse the arid landscapes of Toshara on a speeder or navigate the frozen streets of Kijimi in pursuit of information. The game effectively portrays a grittier aspect of the Star Wars universe and its inhabitants, many of whom are affiliated with the various crime syndicates operating across the galaxy.
Kay Vess, a resourceful scoundrel, is well-suited to these environments, constantly seeking opportunities. Exploring settlements and frequenting bars can reveal new quests and hidden valuables, fully immersing players in the setting.

Your Outlaw, Your Way
As the inaugural open-world Star Wars game, Outlaws provides extensive freedom to explore its environments. Exploration is often rewarded; treasures scattered across each planet offer valuable items and collectibles, including intel on suspicious figures, upgrades for Nix, Sabacc tricks, and other salvageable trinkets that can be sold for credits.
Kay can acquire new skills by finding experts throughout the galaxy, allowing players to customize their playstyle. Some experts teach valuable slicer abilities for a stealth-focused approach, while others offer new shooting skills, weapons, and speeder enhancements for those who prefer direct confrontation and swift escapes.
Players also influence Kay’s narrative by deciding which Syndicates and characters to support or betray throughout the story. Aligning with different factions provides distinct advantages, but every choice carries consequences. This level of freedom in alliances and mission approaches creates a highly customizable adventure in Outlaws.
Stealth And Combat Updates
Since its release, Star Wars Outlaws has implemented substantial changes to its stealth mechanics, offering players greater flexibility in their outlaw activities. While certain game segments previously mandated stealth for success, players now have the option to approach these missions using any preferred method.
Choosing to engage with a blaster instead of executing silent takedowns through air vents is now a viable strategy. Enemy AI detection has also been refined, providing clearer indications when cover is compromised and offering more opportunities to maintain stealth before resorting to open combat. Additionally, players can now use their blaster while operating a speeder, enhancing defense against pirates and other adversaries.
For players who prefer not to rely on stealth but still wish to immerse themselves in Outlaws‘ rich, lawless world, these updates are particularly beneficial.

Two New Story Packs
Star Wars Outlaws now features two additional paid Story Packs that expand Kay’s narrative and connect it to broader elements of the Star Wars universe. The “Wild Card” pack sees Kay hired to infiltrate a high-stakes Sabacc tournament, where she uncovers a deeper game at play. This exclusive Sabacc event requires Kay to find a way to gain entry and investigate. On the casino cruiser Morenia, Kay encounters the renowned pilot Lando Calrissian, who offers assistance in Sabacc with his expert double draw technique.
The latest Story Pack, “A Pirate’s Fortune,” sends Kay and Nix on a quest for lost treasure within the Khepi system. This search for legendary loot leads the duo through perilous locations, where they confront the Rokana Raiders, a rival pirate gang also seeking the same treasure.
In “A Pirate’s Fortune,” Kay and Nix team up with Hondo Ohnaka, a pirate and fellow scoundrel familiar from ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ and ‘Star Wars Rebels’. Despite being without a crew or ship, Ohnaka’s sharp wit and knowledge make him a valuable ally for Kay as they pursue the lost treasure and battle competing pirate gangs.
These DLCs are intended for play after completing the main Outlaws campaign, offering an excellent reason to revisit the game or an exciting future adventure for new players. Access to both packs is included with the Gold Edition, Ultimate Edition, or Season Pass of Star Wars Outlaws, while Game Pass members can also purchase each expansion separately.

For those interested in experiencing the darker, more enigmatic aspects of Star Wars from the perspective of a resourceful survivor instead of a Jedi hero, Star Wars Outlaws delivers. The game is available on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC via Game Pass.
