Welcome to the world of Kiln, a game described as a ‘pottery power-fantasy.’ It combines Creativity and Destruction, offering the satisfaction of both crafting beautiful objects and then shattering them.

In Kiln, players join a team of colorful spirits and compete against opposing teams in online arenas. The ceramic creations sculpted on a pottery wheel transform into the bodies used in battle.
Before entering combat to smash opposing team’s pots, players must create their own ceramic masterpiece. Kiln offers a best-in-class pottery wheel simulation experience, allowing for the creation of diverse and unique vessels.

Mastering the Wheel
Players will spend time in Kiln’s shared lobby, The Wedge. Here, individuals can practice pottery skills, decorate pots, and share creations with others, as well as admire their handiwork.
An important initial decision involves the amount of clay to use. Small, medium, and large portions are available, each offering distinct benefits and challenges. For instance, small pots can roll faster and fit into tight spaces, while large pots can block lanes or trap enemies.
Once the size is chosen, players can unleash their imagination. Clay can be manipulated with spirit hands, tools can alter pot textures, and various shape archetypes like jugs, plates, and vases can be explored. Finishing touches are then applied from a wide selection of pottery-themed cosmetics.
- Toppers: Options include toad tops for teapots, daisies for vases, tiny umbrellas for tiki mugs, and many more.
- Spouts and Handles: A variety of spouts are available, from traditional teapot designs to unique tentacle shapes. Handles also offer an alternative style.
- Charms: Various attachments can be added in a pattern around the pot. Options range from subtle hearts, clovers, stars, or skulls to more elaborate crustacean claws, sharp horns, or gilded kintsugi cracks.
- Glazes: A vast selection of glazes, including glitter, gradients, and patterns, are available to enhance the pot’s appearance.
- Stickers: Players can rotate, scale, and place stickers onto their pot to personalize the vessel.
For additional customization options, players can visit Slip, the dog managing The Wedge’s customization shop. Winning matches awards chips, which can be spent with Slip on new stickers, glazes, and other items.
Discovering Unique Shapes and Abilities
Pot shape influences attributes and playstyle. Choices include big or small, wide or tall, and forms like plates, jugs, cups, or bowls. There are 24 unique combinations of pot size and shape, each possessing a special ability. For example, a small bottle can transform into a stick of dynamite, while a small plate can be launched like a hockey puck. A small chalice allows for wielding a chicken turret that fires high-velocity eggs.
Players are encouraged to discover the various abilities and their impact on gameplay. For those interested in transforming into an exploding bucket of popcorn, a sword-wielding swashbuckler, or a pie to throw at an opponent, a medium amount of clay is suggested.
Alternatively, to become an imposing figure on the battlefield with abilities such as a spinning galaxy of doom or a giant cauldron of deadly brew, players should use a large ball of clay.

Becoming the Ultimate Pottery Brawler
To achieve victory on the battlefield, understanding the game’s mechanics is essential.
The primary game mode, Quench, is a fast-paced 4v4 competition. Teams must collaborate to combine pots and playstyles effectively, collect water in their pots, breach enemy lines, and extinguish the opposing team’s kiln.
This task presents challenges. Each map features unique elements and environmental events that can either assist or impede progress. Additionally, teams must defend their own kiln from being extinguished by the enemy.
Success requires both crafting and combat skills, along with strong teamwork. Even if a pot is shattered, glue and respawns ensure players can quickly return to the action.
Build a team, break down enemies
Players can gather friends to try Kiln, and an online matchmaking system is available to help fill out a roster of pottery pugilists.
Players have the opportunity to experience Kiln early through a series of beta tests prior to launch.
