GPD has once again made a surprising assertion, claiming that the GPD WIN 5 handheld is receiving an “official” adaptation with Bazzite Linux. However, the Bazzite development team has stated otherwise, directly contradicting GPD’s announcement.
Previously, GPD had indicated their desire for this collaboration, showcasing Bazzite support for their high-end handheld in a September 2025 article. The exact nature of this supposed partnership remained unclear, and recent events have only added to the confusion.
A GPD representative posted on Reddit with the title “The official Adaptation of GPD Win5 is happening.” The post further suggested, “The official Adaptation of GPD Win5 is happening, if your got any issue on Bazzite, please join our discord to consult with Bazzite representer.”
Despite GPD’s announcement, Kyle Gospodnetich, the founder of Bazzite, offered a clear rebuttal within the Bazzite Discord channel:

Gospodnetich stated, “Nope GPD lied to you sorry We don’t officially work with anyone, we make hardware work and that’s it. I have no recent contact from them.”
This is not the first instance where GPD’s statements have been challenged. The company has a history of unconventional practices, such as blocking GamingOnLinux on Twitter/X in 2022 after being called out for using YouTube videos without proper credit from various creators.
