Cougar has introduced the MX230 RGB, a mid-tower chassis designed with a primary focus on thermal performance rather than the popular “fish tank” visual style. The MX230 emphasizes optimal airflow through its front mesh panel and an angled mesh bottom panel. This design philosophy aims to establish a vertical thermal column, directing fresh air efficiently to internal components, contrasting with recent trends favoring extensive side glass panels.
The MX230 RGB features a distinctive PSU shroud capable of housing three 120 mm fans. This configuration is designed to offer generous cabling clearance, preventing internal components from obstructing incoming airflow. The MX230 comes pre-installed with four 120 mm ARGB fans—three at the front and one at the rear—and can support up to 10 fans in total. For those opting for liquid cooling, the top panel accommodates radiators up to 360 mm.
Despite its relatively compact size, measuring 475 x 220 x 445 mm, the MX230 provides extensive component compatibility. It supports E-ATX motherboards, CPU coolers up to 170 mm in height, power supply units (PSUs) up to 200 mm in length, and graphics cards as long as 400 mm. For storage, the case can house two 3.5-inch HDDs or a combination of one 3.5-inch HDD and one 2.5-inch SSD.
The snap-fit metal front panel allows for tool-less maintenance, simplifying access for builders. High-speed connectivity is provided by the front I/O, which includes a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) port. The MX230 RGB will be offered in both black and white color options.
