Ctesiphon, a new retro-styled futuristic boomer shooter released in November, casts players as a Galactic Bounty Hunter.
This game was uniquely developed entirely on Linux by a single developer over nearly a decade. The creator utilized C/C++, OpenGL, and open-source Quake mapping tools to build a custom game engine.
Ctesiphon’s custom engine is designed for reliable performance on low-spec systems, capable of handling large firefights with numerous enemies, extensive blood spatter, bullet impact decals, and piles of giblets and scrap as foes are obliterated into particles and debris.
Developed with a Linux-first approach, the game supports virtually all connected controllers on Linux. On Windows, native support is limited to XInput-compatible controllers, though others can function with SteamInput enabled. Steam Deck and Steam Controllers will receive native Linux/SteamOS support post-release; for now, playing the Windows build via Proton is a viable workaround.

Ctesiphon is also Steam Deck Verified. However, it defaults to using Proton on the Steam Deck due to controller issues with the native Linux version, as detailed in a previous Steam announcement.
