Team Fortress 2 has received a new update, which will automatically apply upon restarting the game. This update introduces the highly anticipated Summer 2025 event alongside a range of general improvements and bug fixes.
Summer 2025 Event
The Summer 2025 event is now live, bringing a wealth of new community-created content to the game. Players can enjoy:
- Ten New Community Maps: Explore new battlegrounds including Citadel, Aquarius, Fulgur, Cargo, Conifer, Boardwalk, Blowout, Mannhole, Demolition, and Pressure.
- Summer 2025 Cosmetic Case: This new case contains 23 fresh community-contributed cosmetic items.
- Four New Community Taunts: Head to the Mann Co. Store to acquire new taunts such as The Final Score, Bear Hug, Texan Trickshot, and Flying Colors.
- Fourteen New Unusual Effects: Seven new effects are available for Unusual hats, and another seven for Unusual taunts.
- During the Summer event, all cosmetic and taunt cases (excluding crates) will grant these new Summer 2025 Unusual effects instead of their standard ones.
- The Summer event is scheduled to conclude on September 15th, 2025.
General Updates and Fixes
Beyond the Summer event, the update addresses several issues and introduces various improvements:
- The Frontline Field Recorder, The Texas Half-Pants, and The Das Hazmattenhatten have received material and rimlight fixes.
- An issue causing The Bazaar Bargain’s scope to be painted incorrectly with certain war paints has been resolved.
- Outdated in-game tips have been updated.
- The default value for the ConVar ‘tf_mm_next_map_vote_time’ has been reduced from 30 seconds to 15 seconds.
- Materials for The Candy Cane have been updated for consistency.
- The lightwarptexture setting for the blood version of the Half-Zatoichi has been updated.
- The Strasbourg Scholar has been updated to improve clipping.
- The Heavy’s model now includes a ‘bullets’ bodygroup for cosmetic items.
- Several tournament medals have been updated or added.
Map Updates
Specific map adjustments include:
- cp_fortezza:
- Routes between Point A and Last have been reworked.
- Lighting and visuals across the map have been improved.
- Various clipping issues have been fixed.
- Versus Saxton Hale (VSH) Maps: Updates have been applied to vsh_distillery, vsh_maul, vsh_nucleus, vsh_outburst, vsh_skirmish, and vsh_tinyrock. These changes include:
- Balance Adjustments:
- Consecutive Wall Climbs no longer reduce a player’s existing speed.
- Mini-Sentries now deal 80% damage, an increase from 50%.
- Crit-boosted Miniguns now deal 70% damage, up from 60%.
- The Mighty Slam’s damage at point-blank range has been reduced.
- Hale’s damage against buildings has been rebalanced:
- Level 1 buildings are destroyed with a single punch.
- Level 2 and 3 buildings now require two punches to destroy.
- The Wrangler Shield adds an additional punch to the required count for destroying buildings.
- Ability-based damage to buildings remains unchanged.
- Bug Fixes:
- A crash caused by the string pool overflowing over time has been fixed.
- Hale’s attacks no longer apply knockback in the wrong direction.
- Dead players are no longer incorrectly flagged as AFK and kicked for idling during long rounds.
- The round timer no longer resets to 60 seconds if it was lower when the number of alive Mercs dropped to 5.
- Hale can no longer punch immediately as the Sweeping Charge ends.
- Hale’s punch knockback is no longer excessively strong against Demoman, Heavy, and Medic.
- Healing effects from the Warrior’s Spirit and the Powerjack no longer erase overheal.
- The Quick-Fix no longer occasionally fails to mirror the patient’s Wall Climbing.
- A rare bug at the start of a round where Hale couldn’t move has been fixed.
- Players are no longer able to Wall Climb off of projectiles.
