The popular bullet heaven game, Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, has released Patch 3, which includes a highly requested mid-game saving feature. Players no longer need to complete an entire run in a single session. This new system automatically saves progress whenever a player enters the shop, allowing them to exit and resume their game at the last shop visit.
Beyond the new save functionality, the update aims to enhance performance across all systems. Bullet trail rendering has been optimized, which is expected to reduce CPU load during intense, bullet-heavy gameplay. Additionally, new levels have been added to some upgrades in the upgrade menu, providing more progression opportunities.

Patch 3 Highlights
New Features
- Mid-game saving has been implemented. The game now autosaves upon entering the shop, enabling players to resume their run from the last shop visit if they need to stop playing before completion.
Improvements & Fixes
- CPU load in bullet-heavy situations has been reduced through optimized bullet trail rendering.
- Additional levels have been introduced for some upgrades in the upgrade menu, and some existing upgrades have been rearranged.
- The “Smart Equip” feature has been enhanced, now factoring in rarity (15 gear levels) and upgrades (5 gear levels) more effectively.
- Several bugs have been addressed, including issues with the upgrade UI getting stuck, specific mission goals not completing, alien threat level milestones, elite quirks, and beam count gear interactions.
- Quality-of-life additions include rich deposits communication in biome selection, stat deltas for gear comparison, new character portraits matching class mod and DLC skins, and a tooltip for smart equip.
Balance Changes
Significant balance adjustments have been made across various aspects of the game:
- Drop Chance and Rarity: Gear drop chance has increased by approximately 40%, and the gear inventory limit expanded from 102 to 150. Chances to find higher rarity gear have also seen a massive boost, with legendary gear now having up to a ~15% drop chance (previously ~4-5%).
- Gear Balance: Numerous gear items and their quirks have been buffed. Examples include the Hex Keychain (longer drop pod wait, increased beam/drone/turret count buffs), Hunters Harness (increased Golden Lootbug spawn chance, improved Elite kill heal), Treasure Tracker (increased Max HP on Huuli Hoarder kill), Company Breastplate (increased Armor, Max HP buffs), Miners Flash Belt (increased movement speed buff), and many more.
- Overclock Balance: Various overclocks have been adjusted. Changes include increased reload speed for OC Explosive Reload, higher Crit Chance and Crit Damage for OC Big Game Hunter, reduced reload speed penalty for OC Knuckle Grip, and damage/size buffs for OC Stun Sweeper Disposable Tech and OC Seismic Repulsor Extra Capacity. Some overclocks, like OC Mini Pellets, had damage modifiers removed, while others like OC Subata and Zhukov Bigger Mag gained piercing. OC Akimbo was removed from PGL, and new modifiers were added to OC EM discharge and UOC PGL Bigger Mags.
- Weapon Balance: Several weapons have received buffs to their base stats. The M1000 and Bulldog saw increased base potency. Stun Sweeper, Lead Storm Minigun, Hi-Volt Thunderbird, Deepcore PGL, CRSPR Flamethrower, High Explosive Grenade, and Stubby Voltaic SMG all received boosts to their base damage, fire rate, explosive radius, or other core attributes.
Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor was released on September 17th, 2025, and is playable on Proton / Wine.
