How to Obtain New Mega Evolutions in Mega Dimensions DLC
New Mega Evolutions, and their corresponding Mega Stones, can be acquired through three primary methods within the Mega Dimensions DLC:
- Defeating a Mega Evolution as part of the main DLC storyline.
- Completing specific Side Missions related to the DLC.
- Defeating a Mega Evolution encountered in an optional Hyperspace Zone.
Optional Hyperspace Zones appear randomly, so acquiring all Mega Evolutions through this method may require persistence. Players should progress through the DLC storyline while actively searching for these special Hyperspace Zones on the map. They are easily identifiable by their gold outline and a description indicating the presence of a new Mega Stone.

Returning Mega Evolutions in Mega Dimensions DLC
The Mega Dimensions DLC reintroduces several Mega Evolutions to Legends: Z-A. Five returning Mega Evolutions are available:
- Mega Latias
- Mega Latios
- Primal Kyogre
- Primal Groudon
- Mega Rayquaza
Although Groudon and Kyogre are termed ‘Primal,’ these forms function as Mega Evolutions within the game’s lore. For a deeper understanding of this distinction, playing Pokémon Alpha Sapphire or Omega Ruby is recommended.

Additional returning Pokémon, including Mega Sceptile, Mega Blaziken, and Mega Swampert, will have their Mega Stones released in future Ranked Battle seasons.
Z Mega Evolutions Explained in Pokémon Legends Z-A
Z Mega Evolutions represent new variations of classic Mega Evolutions for Pokémon such as Absol and Lucario, introduced with the Mega Dimensions DLC.
Each Z Mega requires a unique Mega Stone for activation; standard Mega Stones are incompatible with these new forms.

A key benefit of Z Megas is their significantly faster attack speed compared to regular Mega Evolutions. However, this comes at the cost of consuming Mega Energy at a much higher rate, limiting their usage to shorter durations before energy replenishment is needed. Consequently, using Z Megas in Rogue Mega Evolution battles might be disadvantageous, as their rapid energy depletion could leave a player without Mega Energy prematurely.
