Deadlock, an online-only third-person MOBA from Valve, has received a substantial update during its development phase.
The game remains in an invite-only testing phase. Despite this limited access, Deadlock has consistently attracted nearly 30,000 peak concurrent players daily, a number that has seen a boost following the recent update.
The ‘Old Gods New Blood’ update introduces several key changes. These include overhauled Patrons and bases, six new heroes, and a new fast-paced game mode named ‘Street Brawl’. Additionally, the update features HUD improvements and a revamped post-game experience, complete with an MVP screen.
The ‘Street Brawl’ mode offers quick 4v4 battles over multiple rounds, designed for streamlined gameplay. Players select from a randomized set of upgrades before engaging in combat through a single lane on the map. This mode provides a chaotic and intense experience.
Numerous UI upgrades are part of this update, encompassing a rework of settings, reactive player portraits, kill streaks, and improved damage indicators. An updated scoreboard, objective health-bars, and new accessibility options are also included. Furthermore, the update brings anticheat enhancements, improved NPC AI, and general performance improvements.
These extensive changes suggest significant efforts to refine the game for a wider release. It is anticipated that Deadlock will become publicly available later this year. Currently, the game is playable on Linux through Proton.
