The Godot Engine team announced that Mike Klubnika, known for developing games such as Buckshot Roulette and s.p.l.i.t, has become a significant financial contributor to the open-source game engine.
The announcement, made on Bluesky, confirmed Klubnika’s new role as a Corporate Platinum sponsor within the Godot development fund. This contribution is considered substantial and directly supports the ongoing development of the Godot Engine for its user base.

According to the details on Godot’s corporate sponsorships page, a Corporate Platinum sponsorship involves an annual funding of €36,000. Klubnika now stands alongside other notable sponsors like W4 Games, V-Sekai, and JetBrains at this funding tier. The Godot funding page indicates that the project currently receives approximately €30,542 per month for its development efforts.
The success of a free and open-source game engine like Godot is notable, mirroring the achievements of Blender in 3D creation. Its continuous improvement suggests a growing potential for developers to adopt it, potentially shifting away from proprietary platforms that often involve various licensing fees.
The Godot team recently released Godot 4.6, which introduced numerous enhancements across the engine.
