The survival horror title Outbreak: Shades of Horror launches today on Xbox Series X|S, inviting players to the doomed city of Cypress Ridge.

Game Features and Modes
Outbreak: Shades of Horror offers extensive content, playable in single-player or online four-player co-op. Players can switch between first-person and third-person perspectives at any time. Action-packed modes and mini-games are accessible from Cypress Reel, which serves as both a hub world and a multiplayer lobby. The game includes two prequel campaigns, playable online and offline: Chromatic Split Enhanced Edition, a classic survival horror adventure with new content, and Trials of Hank, a fast-paced experience. AI teammates can optionally assist players in Invasion and Raid modes. A Photo Mode is also available for capturing in-game moments.

Expanding Content and Seasonal Events
The game features a growing world, with the Dinobreak crossover event available at launch. This event includes a unique Raid Mode map, special cosmetics, and a photo booth in Cypress Reel. Players can further enhance their experience by playing as fan-favorite characters from the original game with the Dinobreak Crossover Character Pack DLC, also released today.

Regular seasonal events are planned, starting with an extended Halloween event for Xbox players, offering spooky cosmetics and access to Farmer Clay’s Pumpkin Patch map. The Winter Wonderland season is also available at launch, providing themed costume pieces, weapon skins, and the Wordy’s Winter Wonderland map, alongside festive decorations in Cypress Reel.

On Xbox Series X|S, Outbreak: Shades of Horror utilizes Unreal Engine 5.6, incorporating full ray tracing on console. The game achieves higher fidelity and maintains over 60 FPS on Xbox Series X. Players can adjust graphics quality settings to prioritize frame rate or enable enhanced fidelity options, including volumetric lighting, environmental details, and weather effects. Playable characters are diverse and highly detailed, with numerous mix-and-match cosmetic options. In 2026, Outbreak: Shades of Horror will support Xbox Play Anywhere, allowing progress to be maintained across console, mobile, and PC platforms.

Launch Content and Bundles
With the game’s launch, the Dinobreak Crossover Character Pack DLC is available for purchase, adding two customizable characters. The free character Illena is also added for all players, expanding the default selection to thirteen.
