Amazon Game Studios has announced the shutdown of Glowmade’s online multiplayer dungeon crawler, King of Meat. The game’s servers are scheduled to cease operations on April 9, 2026.
As of February 23, King of Meat was removed from all digital storefronts, and in-game purchases have been disabled. Amazon stated on the game’s official website that despite Glowmade’s creative efforts, King of Meat did not achieve the desired audience, leading to the difficult decision to end investment in the title.
Players who purchased King of Meat will automatically receive full refunds from their respective platform providers. This refund process will occur between February 24 and April 9, 2026.
Amazon expressed gratitude to the players and the community that supported King of Meat, acknowledging their enthusiasm and feedback. The publisher also thanked Glowmade for their partnership and passion throughout the game’s development and launch, wishing them future success.

King of Meat initially launched in October 2025. Reports indicated that within two months of its release, the game did not meet internal expectations significantly, which reportedly led to layoffs at Glowmade.

Glowmade, established in 2015 by former Lionhead Studios developers, partnered with Amazon in 2021 as part of Amazon’s strategy to expand into third-party game publishing.
In 2024, Jon Rosenblatt, Amazon Game Studios’ former EMEA publishing director, commented to GamesIndustry.biz that King of Meat presented an excellent opportunity to collaborate with a skilled team in Guildford and expand the game beyond its initial scope.
This news follows Amazon’s announcement last month regarding the shutdown of its MMO, New World: Aeternum, with its servers slated to go offline on January 31, 2027. Development for New World: Aeternum ceased in October 2025, with no further updates planned. This decision was part of broader organizational restructuring at Amazon, impacting 14,000 jobs.
