The native GeForce NOW application for Linux PCs has entered beta, allowing Linux users to access GeForce RTX performance directly from the cloud.
This release also adds ten new games, such as The Bard’s Tale IV: Director’s Cut and The Bard’s Tale Trilogy, enhancing the gaming experience.
Team Jade’s Delta Force will be available in the cloud on February 3, offering tactical action on various devices without requiring downloads.
RTX Gaming Arrives on Linux
Linux gaming has received a significant RTX enhancement.
Supporting Ubuntu 24.04 and newer versions, the new application provides a native experience integrated with Linux desktop environments. It converts compatible Linux systems into powerful GeForce RTX-enabled machines, streaming PC games from the cloud at resolutions up to 5K at 120 frames per second, or 1080p at 360 fps.
This desktop-focused application differs from the previous Linux experience, which was optimized for Steam Decks with resolutions up to 1200p at 90 fps. The beta Linux app is designed for PCs and notebooks, providing a similar experience to the GeForce NOW applications available on Windows and macOS.
GeForce NOW handles rendering in the cloud, enabling demanding games to run on a broader array of devices. Users can experience RTX technologies, such as ray tracing and NVIDIA DLSS 4, which enhance games with RTX 5080 performance delivered from the cloud.
Linux PCs and devices are now part of the GeForce NOW native app ecosystem, which also includes support for Windows, macOS, Chromebooks, mobile devices, and smart TVs, offering flexible, on-demand gaming access.
The application is available for download.
