The Stop Killing Games movement has provided an update on the “Stop Destroying Videogames” EU petition, revealing positive progress.
A Reddit post confirmed the final verified vote count for the petition stands at 1,294,188, significantly exceeding the 1 million votes needed for the EU to take action. The original total was 1,448,270. A country-by-country breakdown showed Germany leading with 233,180 votes, followed by France with 145,289.
An announcement from the movement indicated that the final vote count was being shared earlier than planned due to rapid developments. The initial strategy involved a video reveal, a redesigned website, and other updates closer to their meeting with the EU Commission. The team emphasized the importance of patience, highlighting that they are unpaid volunteers with personal commitments. They also mentioned plans to share this information on new media channels with assistance from Ross, with a handover scheduled for mid to late February.
