AMD’s CEO, Dr. Lisa Su, recently confirmed during the company’s Q4 FY2025 earnings call that the custom silicon designed for Microsoft’s next-generation Xbox console is scheduled for a 2027 release.
Microsoft has not yet revealed details about its future hardware plans, but AMD indicated that the development of this semi-custom System-on-Chip (SoC) is advancing smoothly. Leaks often refer to this processor as the Magnus APU, and it is anticipated to incorporate AMD’s Zen 6 CPU architecture along with RDNA 5 graphics.

Looking at other developments, Valve’s anticipated return to the Steam Machine market seems to be nearing completion. During the same earnings call, Dr. Su mentioned that the AMD-powered Steam Machine was expected to ship early this year. However, Valve later clarified that this timeline was incorrect, and the console, alongside the Steam Frame VR headset, would experience a slight delay. The release window has been adjusted to the first half of 2026, attributed to ongoing memory and storage component shortages.
This compact device is designed to be a more powerful counterpart to the Steam Deck, featuring a semi-custom Zen 4 processor and RDNA 3 graphics.
