IO Interactive has announced that cross-progression will be implemented in Hitman: World of Assassination starting next month. This feature will allow players to transfer their game progress across more than ten different platforms.
The announcement coincides with the fifth anniversary of Hitman 3. In 2023, Hitman 3 was rebranded as Hitman: World of Assassination, incorporating content from both Hitman 2 and the original Hitman game.
According to IO Interactive, the launch of Hitman 3 five years ago marked the conclusion of the World of Assassination trilogy. A key aspect of this milestone was ensuring continuity for players by allowing them to carry forward their established progression from earlier installments.
Cross-progression will become available on February 3. This means players can maintain their save data across various platforms, including PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Switch 2, Switch, Windows Store, Steam, Epic Games Store, and iOS versions.
IO Interactive stated that enabling this feature has been a long-standing goal since the release of Hitman: World of Assassination, especially given the game’s availability on over ten platforms. This ensures that progression will follow players regardless of whether they switch from console to PC, use multiple devices, or move to a new platform, effective February 3.
What Progress Will Be Shared?
The cross-progression system will synchronize several aspects of a player’s game, including:
- Experience and player level
- Challenges
- Location mastery
- Unlocks and inventory items
- Achievements and trophies
- Freelancer mode progression
- Campaign story progress
However, it is important to note that DLC content is platform-specific. To access particular locations, missions, or DLC items on a different platform, players must own that content on the respective platform. If content is not owned on a platform, it, along with any associated unlocks, will not be accessible there, even if unlocked elsewhere.
With the introduction of the new cross-progression feature, the existing Hitman 2 to Hitman 3 Carryover system will be discontinued on February 3. Players who have not yet transferred their Hitman 2 progress to Hitman: World of Assassination are advised to do so before this date.
