Sony Interactive Entertainment, in collaboration with Mega Cat Studios and Santa Monica Studio, has announced and released God of War: Sons of Sparta. This side-scrolling action spin-off of the God of War series features Kratos and his brother Deimos. It is currently available for PlayStation 5 through the PlayStation Store.
The game offers two editions:
- Standard Edition ($29.99 / £24.99 / €29.99 / ¥3,480) includes the base game.
- Digital Deluxe Edition ($39.99 / £32.99 / €39.99 / ¥4,480) includes the base game, a digital art book, a digital soundtrack, the Arrow of Virtue (spear attachment), Rusty Scrap (enhance material), an Unstable Gemstone (belt attachment), Blood Orbs (in-game currency), and PlayStation Network avatars.

Before the Legend
Every legend has a beginning. Before Kratos became a God or a father, he was a young Spartan. This game explores an untold chapter of Kratos’s journey during his Spartan training alongside his brother Deimos. Through rigorous trials, their minds, bodies, and hearts were forged into Spartan soldiers, for whom duty and honor were paramount.
When a fellow cadet disappears, Kratos and Deimos commit to finding him, beginning an adventure that challenges their training and Spartan spirit.
Duty and Honor
Players guide Kratos and Deimos through diverse 2D levels, which demand combat skill and strategic thinking in the search for their lost friend. The game features environmental puzzles, encounters with new and familiar enemies, and battles against mythological bosses that push Spartan training to its limits. Through challenges and teamwork, the brothers learn the true meaning of being a Spartan, a brother, and a friend.
Retro Meets God of War
Mega Cat Studios has created an engaging 2D action-adventure. It combines retro classic gameplay with the God of War series’ signature spectacle, action, and emotional storytelling.
