Hyung-tae Kim, CEO of Shift Up, the studio behind Stellar Blade, has received a Presidential Commendation for his contributions to the Korean games industry.
This prestigious award was presented to Kim at the Korean Content Awards, an event hosted by the Ministry for Culture, Sports, and Tourism. Reports from Daum and Automaton indicate the commendation acknowledges Kim’s significant work on popular titles such as Stellar Blade and Goddess of Victory: Nikke.
Kim expressed gratitude, stating that the Presidential Citation was a result of the dedication from developers and the support from fans who believed in Shift Up.
He also affirmed a commitment to enhancing the global competitiveness of Korean games.
While Helldivers 2, a multiplayer game, holds the overall record for Sony’s biggest game with over 450,000 concurrent players, Stellar Blade surpassed the concurrent player peaks of other notable single-player PlayStation titles on Steam. These include Ghost of Tsushima (77,154), God of War (73,529), and Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered (66,436).
